Welcome to the Institute for Teaching and Learning website.

This site contains information for new academic staff at The University of Sydney; for academic staff interested in the development of teaching and learning through courses, projects and research; for those interested in teaching quality assurance processes, for students interested in doing research leading to a PhD in Higher Education, and for anyone with an interest in the growing field of academic development.   

In contributing to the international reputation that the University of Sydney has in both teaching and research, the Institute for Teaching and Learning uses research generated internally and elsewhere in work with members of the University community aimed at enhancing and assuring the quality of teaching and learning. This is done in part through a number of strategic projects, in part through sustained coursework programs at Graduate Certificate and Masters levels, and in part through the maintenance of a suite of teaching and learning quality enhancement and assurance systems.

This website describes these approaches, including the Institute’s unique blend of teaching and research, and other activities conducted within and outside the university. I hope you will find the website helpful and informative.
